To be quite honest, I never knew that Princess Diana had a backup dress but I can not be surprised. We are all fashionistas regardless of our station in life. There is always a plan B,C, and D.
The replicas of Princess Diana's dress (designed by David Emmanuel) and slippers (designed by Clive Shilton) were auctioned off this week to the highest bidder in London’s Kerry Taylor Auctions. The replica wedding dress, which is made of ivory taffeta and antique lace, was sold for £84,000 (which is around $130,000 USD) to a museum in Chile. The backup slippers did not want to be left behind. The slippers were sold to a private party in the amount of £36,000 (which is around $56,000 USD). I hope who ever gained these treasurers treat them with care. Even though, the marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles was not a ceremonious one, she was and still is our favourite princess. We will always miss the person she was and is to all of us.
