PROMINENT ETHNIC MODELS SERIES: LIU WEN

I know for my prominent ethnic models series I have been mostly focusing on our black models. I will not lie. I believe that our black models contributed extremely into the future of the fashion world. It looks like the east have "jumped onto the bandwagon" so to speak. I will like to dedicate this series to Liu Wen.

Liu Wen is a beautiful chinese model born Yougzhoun, a providence in China.  Can you believe before she became known for her cheekbones and smile, she use to work as a chinese tour guide? The models you see as your idols on the most prominent and popular magazines in the world, you begin to realize how just like you and I they are. They become more human and reachable, but just with more money.

Liu started her modeling career in 2005 by entering the annal New Silk World Model contest held in China. She did not win the competition but it did not stop her from being recognized for her potential and appearing in both Chinese Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Europe and other international countries came calling in 2007,  when she appeared  for campaigns for both Karl Lagerfeld and Viktor and Rolf. In 2008 and 2009, she walked for runways, campaigns AND editorials: in the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Vitkor and Rolf, Hermes, Chanel, Alexander Wang, DKNY, ELLE, i-D, Allure, Interview, and W.

In 2009 Liu Weng became the first east asian model to walk the runway of Victoria's Secret. In 2010, she also became the first asian model to become the face of Estée Lauder. WOW. I am completely breathless and awed. As you can see with hard work and perseverance it truly pays off.
